Harriette Elizabeth (Davis) Wilde

Harriette Elizabeth Davis Wilde, 80, of Straits, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City with Rev. Ernest Laxton officiating.

Harriette was very active in both Boy and Girl Scouts, as a Den mother with the Boy Scouts, and a Troop leader with the Girl Scouts, the Chamber of Commerce, and many other community groups, as well as the schools her children attended.

In addition to her immediate family, was her large extended Davis family.  She was mother, grandmother and friend to many besides her five children, and this group exceeded even her large extended family.  Her home and her heart was always open to anyone that needed her friendship and wise council.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Capt. Hugh L. Wilde; her son, Capt. Hugh L. Wilde Jr. and wife Debbie of Beaufort; and three daughters, Harriette Cooper of Newport, Rachel Wilde of Raleigh, and Rebecca Wilde of Boone; eight grandchildren, Carmen Borden, Richard “Bo” Borden, Elizabeth Cooper, Jerry Cooper, Joshua Brent, Samuel Brent, James Erwin, George Koribanic; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dr. Rachel D. Davis of Kinston, NC; and her youngest son, Stuart Wilde.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home.
