Harold Franklin Mitchell, 76, of Beaufort, died Tuesday January 15, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
Harold grew up in Sampson County where he worked on the family farm and helped in raising his brothers and sisters. He was a self-taught “man-of-all-trades” and started Mitchell’s Metal Shop after he moved to Carteret County in 1956. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, especially squirrels.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Eula Conway Mitchell of the home: a daughter Joyce Mitchell Vinston and husband Kenny of Morehead City: two sons Chris Mitchell and wife Brenda of Clinton, and John Mitchell of the home: four grandchildren Hope Mitchell of Clinton, Christopher Mitchell Jr., of Clinton, Katelyn Mitchell of Clinton, and Zachary Vinston and wife Ashley of Morehead City: one great grandson Zachary Scott Vinston, Jr: two sisters Ann Lenhart of Cinnimson, NJ and Sylvia Conway and husband Buzz of Beaufort: and lots of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eva Pierce Mitchell and Stephen Franklin Mitchell, daughter, Cathy Elaine Mitchell, and two brothers, Stephen Franklin Mitchell, Jr., and Paul Edward Mitchell.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
