Hannah Marie Loy, 17, of Pine Knoll Shores, died in a tragic car accident Sunday, December 5, 2010.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Glad Tidings Church across from West Carteret High School, with The Rev. David Linka and The Rev. John Grayson officiating.
In a brief span of life Hannah accomplished so much. Her passion was her art classes. Please be sure to come to the front after the service to view some of her paintings and photos.
She was a busy young woman as a senior at West Carteret High School with dual enrollment at Carteret Community College, where she attended Cosmetology School. When she wasn't in class, her spare time was spent working for Dairy Queen. She won two crowns and was the 1st runner up at State level in the Miss North Carolina Sweetheart Pageants and was on the WCHS Color Guard for two years.
Hannah's favorite activities included working on art projects, photography, (you never caught her without her camera), spending time with her friends and boyfriend, Zek Mann, playing with her little sister, and going to the beach.
Hannah is survived by her parents, George W. Loy and Lee Powell; sister, Independence Lucille Powell; step-mother, Margie Loy, and step-brother, Justin Plyer.
After graduation, she was planning to attend college to major in graphic arts. So, to live out her dream, the Hannah Marie Loy Art Scholarship has been established. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made by check to WCHS, marked for the Hannah Marie Loy Art Scholarship, and mailed to: Jodi Cordova, WCHS, 4700 Country Club Rd., Morehead City, NC 28557.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Church.
