GySgt Roy Marshall, USMC, Retired, 71, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3rd at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Havelock, officiated by Bishop Larry Cooke. His interment, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m., also on Wednesday, at the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
Roy was born on March 25, 1953, in Wallace, Idaho, to the late Elza and Inez Marshall. He proudly dedicated over 20 years of his life to the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor. After retiring, Roy continued to serve his community as a government contractor and became deeply involved in various local activities. He was a cherished member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he played an active role in missionary work and served faithfully as a former Bishop.
Roy was also a beloved T-ball coach and assistant Girl Scout leader, sharing his love for sports and leadership with the younger generation. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, a hobby that brought him great joy and peace. He was married to his sweetheart, Kathleen, for 47 ¾ years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Together, they built a loving family and created a home filled with faith, love, and laughter. May his love for life and dedication live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife, Kathleen W. Marshall of the home; daughters, Meesha Robertson (Matthew) of Havelock NC, Anna Walker (Derk) of Goldsboro, NC, Daisy Yeaton (Chris) of Havelock, NC, and Katie Moran (Brian) of Havelock, NC; son, Nicholas Marshall (Claudia) of Havelock, NC; 13 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margie Abbott and Shirley Cox, and brothers, Jim and Johnny Marshall.
