Gwendolyn Gibbs-Hyman

Gwendolyn Gibbs-Hyman, 65, of New Bern, passed away Thursday, December 26­, 2019, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.

Gwendolyn was born and raised in Englishtown, New Jersey where she graduated from Freehold Regional High School. In 1996, she moved to North Carolina where she worked and retired from Prudential Sunsurf Realty in Emerald Isle. Her favorite holiday was Halloween which she loved and looked forward to the whole year. She will be remembered for her amazing sense of style and affinity for jewelry. Gwendolyn was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her daughters, Koree Gibbs-Maddox of Farmingdale, NJ and Hope Gibbs-Maddox of New Bern; sons, Jason Gibbs of Havelock and Eric Gibbs and wife Shannon of Bethlehem, PA; sisters, Yvonne Gregory and husband Larry Wynn of Havelock, Donna Crudup and husband Saleem of Havelock, Regina Gibbs of Neptune, NJ, Sandra Mayfield and husband Keith of Rochester, NY and Allison Ellington of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Armani, Chanel, Melissa, Jaycee, Savannah, Jason, Gregory, Jordan, Sabastian and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Greyson, Wyatt and Corina; boyfriend, James Stroman of the home; and former daughter-in-law and mother to her grandchildren, Jodine Gibbs.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 10 years, William O. Hyman Jr.; parents, James Gibbs and Annie Walker; and sister, Lisa Ann Gibbs.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.
