Grace Goodwin Styron

Grace Goodwin Styron, 88, of Cedar Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Pruitt Health at Sea Level.

The family will hold private services.

Grace was born in Cedar Island and graduated high school from Atlantic High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. She married the love of her life, Aron Styron, on May 20, 1949. She was an incredibly strong, fiercely independent woman who loved her children and family. She was a hard worker and could do anything that she set her mind to including, crocheting, sewing, quilting, carpentry and clamming. Grace was a devoted and loving wife and she would tell anyone, “I can fuss at Aron all day long, but you better not mess with him”.  They were rarely seen apart. As a mother, she loved her children and family, she was always there to support them and lend a helping hand no matter what the need was or the time of day or night in which she was needed.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Horna of Springfield, PA and Susie Styron of Morehead City; sons, Aron Styron, Jr. and wife, Cathie, of Cedar Island and Johnny Styron and wife, Vonnie, of Cedar Island; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aron Styron; parents, John and Dean Goodwin; sister, Hazel Goodwin; and brother, Alton Goodwin.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Health Sea Level for taking such good care of mama. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
