Grace Hardison Ellis, 98, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024, with her husband, William Stanton Ellis, by her side. Grace's daughter, Stanton Ellis Thomas, with her husband, David Alan Thomas, and her grandson, Warren David Thomas, were also present and surrounded her with love and light during her passing.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, October 19, at Emerald Isle Baptist Church. Following the service, there will be a reception for guests at an announced location.
Grace Lee Hardison, born November 11, 1925, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jasper H. Hardison and Emma Lee Hardison of Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was the sister of Jasper "Jack" Hardison. Grace attended elementary and high school in Fayetteville, NC, and she attended Worth Business College, also in Fayetteville. She began her career in the Finance Department at Ft. Bragg. NC.
Grace married William S. Ellis in 1949. Grace and Bill recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. They have one daughter, Stanton E. Thomas.
Grace will be remembered as an avid traveler and reader. She loved to spend time with her family and she was a great friend to many.
Grace is survived by her husband, Willam Stanton Ellis and daughter, Stanton Ellis Thomas and son-in-law, David Alan Thomas. Grace is also survived by her granddaughter, Lindsay Thomas Van Nice and her husband Anthony Hunt Van Nice, and Grace's grandson, Warren David Thomas, and his wife, Meshach Y. Rhoades. In addition, Grace will be missed dearly by her four great-grandchildren, Genevieve Swift Van Nice, Hilary Ellis Van Nice, Elliette "Elle" Grace Rhoades Thomas, and Warren "Ari" David Rhoades Thomas II.
