Gloria Lorraine Mize

Gloria Lorriane Mize, 69, of Cape Carteret, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Gloria, known to all by Lorraine, was born on January 1, 1956, in Belton, South Carolina, to the late Jimmie and Bobbie Mize. As a professional photographer, she captured countless moments of family and friends, though she often found herself on the other side of the lens, resulting in few images of her own.

Music played a significant role in Lorraine's life; she was a talented pianist who shared her musical gift with her church community for many years. The mountains were her favorite travel destination, escaping the busyness of life and appreciating the breathtaking views.

Lorraine was a remarkable woman, known for her willingness to help others, often giving her last penny or the shirt off her back to those in need. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she cherished the times spent together, especially with her nieces and their families. 

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her nieces, Kristi McNamara (Matt), Heidi McIntosh (Patrick) and Heather Mize; and great nieces and nephews, Phoebe McNamara, Peyton Hutchins, Bryson Mize, Lynlee Lee, Aiden McIntosh, Phaith McNamara and Mason McIntosh.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Mize.
