Gloria Jean (Winders) Baer
March 19, 1944 — October 13, 2016
Our beloved Gloria Jean Baer, 72, of Newport was called home by the Lord, Thursday, October 13, 2016 in Nash County.
A homecoming celebration will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, October 20, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Havelock with Pastor Jim Daub officiating.
Gloria was born in Mason City, IA where she lived until 1966 when she moved to Phoenix, AZ. There she met her husband, Walter, who she was married to for 39 years. Gloria was a loving grandmother, first and foremost and also a loving wife, mother, aunt and a friend to many. She was a great cook, who prepared the meals for Vacation Bible School at her church. She was also an avid bowler who was very involved and contributed to different bowling leagues throughout her life.
Gloria is survived by her three children; son, Rick Baer and wife Gina; daughters, Tracey Allen and husband Lee, and Jean Tomassi; four grandchildren, Morgan Sparks, Kevin Sparks, Amanda Baer and Joshua Tomassi; and two great granddaughters, Giannah Baer-Godette and Grace Baer-Godette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Baer; parents, Vernon and Margaret Winders; stepfather, Earl Ward; sisters, Jeanny Mae, Priscilla, and Lillian; and brothers, Henry, James, and Roger.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 pm Thursday at the church prior to the service.
