Ginger Faye Cooper King, 86, of Emerald Isle, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. Ginger accepted her illness with dignity and grace and didn’t let cancer change her beautiful spirit.
Ginger was born on January 5, 1939, in Graham, NC to the late AG Cooper and Catherine Edwards Cooper Payne.
She attended Eli Whitney school and retired from Western Electric/AT&T. She was married to Kenneth Dalton King for 64 years, until his passing in 2019. She was a lifelong member of Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church, where she participated in many church functions. After retiring, Ginger and Kenneth moved to Emerald Isle, NC. They graciously welcomed many visitors into their home at the beach, where Ginger loved to cook and entertain everyone. She loved spending time with her family, walking on the beach, gardening, and taking care of others. She also loved being a “Nanny” to Ethan and Breck Ybanez of Cedar Point, NC. Ginger will be deeply missed.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen Ferrell of Jacksonville, NC; sons, Wayne King and wife Terri of Graham, NC, Jeff King and wife Kendra of Burlington, NC; grandchildren Michael King, Christy Riley (Scott), Cameron King, Sydney King, and Sonya Cooper; five great-grandchildren, Nolan Riley, Dakota Riley, Jazmine Cooper, Kayla Craig, Kenny Craig; and three great-great-grandchildren, Trenton Craig, Rylan Craig, and Case Consigli. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mattie Cooper; special cousin, Kathy Hurley; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ginger was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Kenneth Dalton King; brother, Gary Cooper; and sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Horner and Sara Cooper.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church in Graham, NC.
