George William "Billy" Applewhite, Jr. age 50, of Middletown, Connecticut died suddenly Thursday, April 27th, 2023.
Billy was born in Wilmington, New Hanover County, North Carolina on February 1, 1973, where he attended Cape Fear Community College and earned an associate degree. His employment was as a Project Manager with the State of Connecticut Military Department.
To paraphrase poet Juanzen Dizon, Billy's mantra was; "Every day is a fresh start, and every sunrise is a new chapter"
Billy's life was too short, but he lived it to its fullest. He was a husband, father, friend, traveler, music enthusiast, bass player, surfer and friend to any person, dog, cat or horse. He never met a stranger and his Bonafide claim as a Connecticut Redneck was his Aunt Leigh's recipe for Southern Fried Chicken.
Billy is survived by his son, Slade William Applewhite; father, George William Applewhite Sr.; mother, Kaye W. Applewhite; sister, Terri Applewhite Jenkins of Morehead City; paternal aunts, Mary A. Rogers and Betty A Harrison (Mike); nephew, Alex Johnson; and niece, Carley Johnson. Billy also had a special bond with his cousin, Sarah, as well as with the rest of his extended family who will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Milhalko Applewhite; grandfather, George Wash. Applewhite; grandmothers, Margaret C. Applewhite and Louise Lowe Howard; and maternal aunt Florence Leigh Rivenbark.
A memorial service will follow at a later date.
