George M. "Peanut" Thomas, 51, of Beaufort, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at his home.
A funeral will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at North River United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Durner officiating. Interment will follow at North River UMC Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was a member of North River United Methodist Church, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked detailing autos from Wilmington to Morehead City, and he also worked on a dredge boat and commercial fishing.
George was a kind and gentle soul who touched many lives through out his life in various ways.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Ransom Thomas of the home; brother, Harold Brantley Thomas and wife Karen of Newport; half-brothers, George Murray Thomas, III and wife Janet and Charles Edward Thomas and wife Debi all of Beaufort;half-sister, June Kaye Thomas and husband Glenn McFadden of Marshallberg aunts, Patricia Thomas Arthur, Dorothy Ransom Brown and husband Billy and Jeanette Ransom Holland and husband Michael Noe; uncle, Robert Ransom and wife Linda Kay; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Murray Thomas, Jr. .
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North River United Methodist Church, 2494 Hwy 70 E, Beaufort, NC 28516.
