George Barry Winberry Sr.

George Barry Winberry Sr., 73, died on January 21, 2014.
George was born September 12th, 1940 in Morehead City, North Carolina where he lived most of his life. He was the son of Arby & Maggie Winberry. He later retired to Palm Bay, Florida where he enjoyed golfing with friends and riding his motorcycle. George served in the Navy in the Submarine Service, after the Navy he joined the Coast Guard serving on the Barque Eagle Sailing Ship, Recruiting Duty, and Coast Guard Intelligence; he then retired from the Coast Guard. George also retired from Civil Service at Cherry Point. He served a total of twenty-two and half years in the military.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 1, at Munden Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Randall officiating, followed by U.S. Coast Guard Honors.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Lou Winberry; sisters, Rowena Jones, and Florence Garner; and brother, Elmon Winberry.
His surviving family includes his son, George Barry Winberry Jr.; sisters, Juanita Newkirk, and Johnise Culpepper; and many special friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh in Newport, NC.
