George Nichols

George Nichols, 85, of Newport, died Monday, January 25, 2021 at Carteret Health Care.

His service will be held at 10 a.m.  on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wilmington, NC, officiated by Father Steven Klund.  Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport. Friends are welcome to attend the service. In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home. Additionally, there will be a limit to the number of people in the building at one time, as well, those who attend will be asked to bring and wear a protective mask. Help us honor the family while practicing safe measures. Friends are also encouraged to leave words of comfort to the family through the website.

George is survived by his daughters, Andrea Vangelist and husband John of Newport, NC, Stephanie Vitson and husband Steve of Newport, NH; sister, Maria Nickolaou of Greece; brother, John Nickolaou of Mass.; grandchildren, Jason Vangelist, Anthony Vangelist, Melissa Vitson, David Vitson; great grandchildren, Brailey, Rachel, Jason, Isabella, and Phoebe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Nichols, parents Aristotle Nickcolaou and Andrea Nickcolaou.
