George Edward Morin Jr., 80, Newport, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with Father Gregory Spencer of Annunciation Catholic Church of Havelock presiding.  Interment will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Mr. Morin retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after twenty years of service, where he was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.  He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth “Jo” Carmack Morin of the home; five step-daughters, Barbara J. Burke of Raleigh, Patricia B. Tallman of Wilson, Janice K. Burke and Jacqueline F. Burke both of Hendersonville and Venita Hazen of California; step-son, Ronnie Locklear of New Bern; Step-grandson, Robert Bradly Tallman of Wilson and special family friend, Shirley Cooper of Swansboro.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Munden Funeral Home.
