George Clarence Moore, Sr.

June 25, 1929 — February 25, 2013

George Clarence Moore, Sr., 83, of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, died Monday, February 25, 2013.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 28th at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. The funeral service will be held immediately following at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Freddie Braswell of Emerald Isle Baptist Church officiating. Internment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

George was born June 25, 1929 in Williamston, North Carolina, the son of the late George Edward Moore and Emma Belle Williams Moore. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carrie Lou Brown Moore; a son, George C. Moore, Jr., married to Lori Boyce Moore, and grandsons, Wyatt Alexander and Garrett Christopher, all of Raleigh; a daughter, Dale Moore Lynam, married to Gary D. Lynam, of Rocklin, California, and a dearly loved foster-sister, Doris Modlin Johnson, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

George retired from forty-six years with Belk in 1994. He was very active in the communities of Williamston, Ahoskie, Edenton, Tarboro, and Emerald Isle where he lived and worked serving his church as well as civic groups as a Director of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the Rotary Club, a member of the Historical Commission Board, Director of the Merchants Association as well as a member of the American Legion. George also served in the National Guard and the Army. He had many interests, golf, fishing, woodworking, gardening, music and reading, but his greatest interest always was his love of family and treasured friendships.
