George Preston Graham

George Preston Graham, 97, of Mill Creek, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Bill Hooper and Rev. Reggie Etheridge officiating followed by Military Honors. A private burial will be held.

Preston honorably served in the US 9th Army under General George Patton during WWII. His tours of duty in the 427th Engineer Battalion took him to Scotland, Wales, England, Sicily, Tunisia, Naples, and Rome. He was a member of Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Preston retired in 1982 from the N.C. Dept. of Transportation.

He is survived by his two daughters, Alinda Graham Garner and Ora Graham Ostling both of Mill Creek, NC; seven grandchildren, Preston Garner and wife Maria, Sonya Garner and husband Seth Mauseth, Yarko Thomas and wife Morgan, Nancy Ostling, Ellen Ostling Phillips and husband Chad, Joey Ostling and Jennifer Ostling Trilizzio; seven great grandchildren, Ray, Thomas, Roland, Daisy, Ethan, Haleigh and Lizzie.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Georgia Cuthrell Graham, who passed in 2009; parents, James Thomas Graham and Florence Street; three grandchildren, Allen Ray Garner Jr, Susan Beth Garner, and Allison May Ostling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Graham Memorial Building Fund, 3448 Mill Creek Rd. Newport, NC 28570.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Church. The family welcomes visitors at the home of Ray and Alinda Garner in Mill Creek, NC.
