George Holloman Ellinwood

George Ellinwood, 69, of Merrimon and Raleigh, died Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at his home in Merrimon.
A memorial service will be held by the family Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at 2:00 pm, at Merrimon United Methodist Church, 5012 Merrimon Road, Beaufort, NC (http://www.merrimonumc.org), with the Rev. Glenn Everett officiating. Mr. Ellinwood was a graduate of N.C. State University with a BS in civil engineering and a master's in architecture. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He owned and operated Ellinwood Design Associates, an architectural and civil engineering firm with several locations in NC.
He is survived by his wife, Sallie Wilson Ellinwood of Merrimon and Raleigh; son, J. Harrison Ellinwood and wife Hollie B. of Raleigh and their daughter, Olivia Lynn; sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Craig of Smithfield; Susan Hayes Price, Ronald Todd Price, Everett H. Ellinwood III, J. Bradley Ellinwood and Susan Ellinwood Francis.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
The family requests no flowers and that memorial contributions be made to the North Carolina Maritime Museum 315 Front St. Beaufort, NC 28557 or the Duke Heart Center, c/o Ms. Blue Dean, Duke Medical Center, 512 S. Mangum Street, Ste 400, Durham, NC 27701.
