George Lewis Brown

George Lewis Brown, 79, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service to honor George’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 10th at Munden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

George was born on August 30, 1945, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, to the late Paul Brown and Mildred Kurt.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, George honorably served in the United States Air Force. His patriotism was seen throughout his life and through his involvement at the Beaufort VFW, where he formed lasting connections with his fellow veterans, sharing stories and camaraderie. 

His commitment to service extended into his professional life, where he displayed remarkable talent and hard work. George was always a great provider for his family. He retired as a firefighter from Cherry Point and also worked additional jobs that utilized his talents including mechanic work. George was also an esteemed honorary member of Beaufort Rescue.

George was a huge NASCAR fan, always ready for the next race. He cherished the great outdoors and was happiest when on the golf course, enjoying a hunting trip, or casting his line fishing.

Above all, George will be lovingly remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who held his family dear to his heart. 

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Kevin Lewis Brown of Newport, NC; daughter, Lisa Ann Brown of Maryland; grandchildren, Hillary Brown, Charlotte Brown, Ayden Brown, Ryan Fluharty, Joshua Fluharty, and Kimberly Garner; and great-grandsons, Waylon Andrew Lewis Fulcher, Daniel Fluharty, Matthew Fluharty, Caleb Fluharty, and Jace Fluharty.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Brown and granddaughter, Brianna Kinsleigh.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, Inc., WEB P.O. Box 7410354, Chicago, IL 60674.
