Gene Aldon Blanton

Gene Aldon Blanton, 73, of Ocean, passed Saturday, March 1 2014.
A graveside service will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Taylor Family Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.
He was a veteran in the Air Force, having served in the 622nd Air Refueling Squadron and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was known for his famous local restaurants: The Goose Creek Restaurant, Snapdragon, and The Crab House. When he wasn't winning fishing tournaments, he was a licensed boat captain of the Fish Hunter. His hobbies also included golf and HAM radio.
He is survived by his daughter Ryan Glenn Blanton and son Gene Aldon Blanton , Jr; sister Vicki Barefoot Brown and husband Roger Brown; 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
He was preceded by his mother Helon Taylor Moore and his sister Dana Gale Barefoot.
A Celebration of Life will be held 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Ice House Restaurant 103 Moore St. Swansboro, NC 28584.
