Gary Dale Neal, 73, of Beaufort, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at his home.
His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Stacy Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ernest Laxton, Jr. and Rev. Ralph Douglas Neal.
Gary received the commission of Kentucky Colonel which is the highest title of honor bestowed by the Governor of Kentucky. It is recognition of an individual's noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to the community, state, and nation. His philanthropic achievements and dedication to volunteering also awarded him the Certificate of Appreciation from the former Governor of North Carolina, James G. Martin. Gary enjoyed people and lived life to the fullest, he enjoyed working security at both the Carteret Community College and Carteret Healthcare where he worked for 8 years. He was one of the founding members of the Sea Gate Roosters Men’s Club where he enjoyed the comradery of his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Pittman Neal of the home; daughter, Yvonne Lynn Hardin and husband Brad of Louisville, KY; sons, Cully Daniel Neal and wife Erin of Havre de Grace, MD and Cody Douglas Neal of Beaufort, NC; brothers, Thomas “Danny” Daniel Neal and wife Barbara of Lexington, KY and Ralph Douglas Neal and wife Janet of Drummonds, TN; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Ronnie Kruse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Oneeda Neal and granddaughter, Camden Neal.
The family will receive friends following the service.
