Gary Dean Mace

Gary Dean Mace, 63, of Beaufort, went home on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Swinson Park in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Marty Warren.

Gary was born Thursday, August 7, 1958, at 2:35 a.m. in Killeen, Texas to Morris and Dorothy Mace.

Gary worked with the Atlantic Beach Police Department, and he retired from the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office. His love in life other than his wife and family was music, softball, and cars. He has always been known for his peacefulness, his laughter, and being a great friend. He was the type of person that could pick up on anything where it was left out. He loved the Lord with all his heart, he truly believed God’s word of “Peace Maker”.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Terri Mace; four children, Joshua Mace and wife Erin Mace, Joseph Mace and wife Sarah Mace, Janie Kight and Ashley Currence, Rebekah Mace Jones and husband Joshua Jones; grandchildren, Brayden Penny, Colton Penny, Nicole Mace, Kylee Penny and Elise Mace; sister, Linda Hight and husband Jim Hight; brothers, Kenny Mace and wife Leisha Mace, and Rusty Mace and wife Karen Mace; and nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Sarah, Kelly, Bryan, Lauren, Michael, Marrisa, Christian, Coreen, and Chase.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Ann White; and father-in-law, Terry Willis.

There are no words to how much he will be missed.
