Gary David Haslob,71, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.

A private graveside service will take place at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The service will be available for viewing on the evening of October 12th and will remain on his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home's website for 90 days.

Gary was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on November 9, 1950, to the late Christian and Mary Haslob. He grew up in Stratford, Connecticut where he graduated from High School. Gary was proud to service to his country, serving in the United States Army with the Bravo Company Infantry during the Vietnam War.

Known as "The G Man" in the car business, Gary excelled in sales which came naturally to him. His extensive car knowledge also included knowing his way around an engine and he was always willing to help his friends with their vehicle needs. Gary especially enjoyed NASCAR, and driving his Corvette cruising around town. When he wasn't working on a car, he could be found in the yard, always keeping himself busy, or hanging out with his cat, Monet, and dog, Bella.

Gary wasn't shy about who he was, being in recovery for over 44 years, he transparently shared his journey with others. His openness and honesty helped numerous lives over the years. In 2014, he moved to Carteret County where he and his wife, Bobbie, enjoyed the beautiful coast of North Carolina.

Gary was loved by so many. He was always there as a loving father and devoted husband, and will be truly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Bobbie Williams of the home; daughter, Melissa Ann Haslob Burmeister of Hampstead, NC; sons, Christian Tyler Haslob and Spencer John Haslob, both of Fuquay-Varina, NC; brothers, Bob Haslob and wife Elaine of Monroe, CT and Don Haslob and wife Kelly of Highlands Ranch, CO; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Ward of Newport; and grandchildren, Cody Wyatt, Rylee Grace, and Cooper Paul Burmeister, all of Hampstead, NC.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his brothers, Christian Haslob and Richard (Ritchie) Haslob.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
