Garland Guthrie, 80, of Harkers Island, NC died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Durham VA Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Willie D. Willis Family Cemetery with Rev. Tom Gift officiating.
Mr. Guthrie is survived by his wife, Emma Rose Guthrie of the home; three daughters, Lucinda Dixon and husband, James, Brenda Nelson and husband, Harvey, and Judy Ensminger and husband, Bobby, all of Harkers Island; grandchildren, Tracy Sinclair and husband, Brent, Bobbi Burroughs and husband, Brandon, Allen Nelson and wife, Tiffany, Landon Ensminger and wife, Ashley, Jamie Dixon, Jeremy Dixon and wife, Krista, and Matthew Nelson and wife, Mollie; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Jenny Russell of Harkers Island; brothers, Frank Guthrie and wife, Peggy of Harkers Island, Larry Lee Guthrie and wife, Helen of Kinston, Douglas Guthrie and wife, Leota of Harkers Island, and Mitchell Guthrie and wife, Linda of Newport.
He was preceded by his parents, Irvin and Bertha Lewis Guthrie and sister, Barbara Ripley.
The family will receive friends 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service Friday at the family home located at 1105 Island Road on Harkers Island.
