Frederick “Fred” Hyatt, 76, of Newport, passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at home surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home with Pastor Will Thomas officiating.  Interment to follow at Bayview Cemetery in Morehead City.

Fred was born and raised in Carteret County.  He was a trucker for all his career and enjoyed traveling all over the country in both his truck and his Harley.  He loved NASCAR and was a lifetime member of the NRA.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who always put his family and friends before himself.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Catherine McCormack and husband Jay of New Bern; son, David Hyatt of Newport; grandchildren, Jeremy Burris, Christopher Hyatt and Jason Burris; great grandchild, Caleb Burris; and brothers, Jerry Hyatt and wife Norma, Cecil Hyatt, and Neal Hyatt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hyatt; sons, Frederick “Ricky” Hyatt Jr., and Robert “Rob” Hyatt; parents, Lonnie and Eleanor (Willis) Hyatt; and brother, Lonnie Hyatt Jr.

The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, November 7, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
