Frederick DeFeo, 76, of Havelock, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A memorial service to honor Frederick’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 4th with military honors, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. David Mull. 

 Frederick was born on March 11, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Frederick and Ann DeFeo. He spent most of his life in the beautiful town of Cape Carteret, North Carolina. Frederick was married to his beloved wife, Darlene, for over 50 wonderful years. Their love story is one of devotion and companionship that has a lasting legacy for their family and friends.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army for eight years, a commitment of dedication and patriotism. Beyond his service, Frederick was known for his love of golfing and fishing. These hobbies made him happy and relaxed, often shared with family and friends. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Havelock, where his faith and fellowship were central to his life. Frederick will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

 Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Darlene DeFeo of the home; daughter, Trisha Tobin (Daniel) of Havelock, NC; son, Frederick Shawn DeFeo of Beaufort, NC; sister, Jessica Donald (Stephen) of Grifton, NC, Karin Mull (David) of Grifton, NC; brother, Charles Lyons of Newport, NC; along with 9 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

 In addition to his parents, Frederick was preceded in death by his daughters, Michelle Salter, Theresa Greek; sister, Vicky Buckmaster; and brother, Jimmy Byrd.

 As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
