Frederick Bruce Congleton, 72, of Beaufort died peacefully at home on Sunday morning October 17, 2010.
He was born September 21, 1938 in Beaufort to the late Alvin and Marselle Congleton. After high school he served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was self-employed for 28 years in his company, NC Structural Detailers.
Bruce loved the Lord and served the Lord. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Beaufort, NC. He served as Deacon,and delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the church band and I believe he is playing his trombone in a heavenly park with friends and family that went ahead of him. Other talents include wood carving and painting.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Beaufort at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 with Rev. Michael Fields, Rev. John Thompson and Dr. Jack Hinton officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sadie Wheeler Congleton; Sherrie Duncan Gregory, step-daughter and husband, Marty of Angier; Julia Congleton Tourney, sister, of Corpus Christi, TX; Nancy Newan McCausley, half-sister of Hubert; and Lou Newan, half-brother of Beaufort.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Dickie Newan.
The family would like to express it's appreciation to Dr. John Rickabaugh and staff for excellent care and friendship given to Bruce, along with gratitude for caregivers at Hospice of Carteret County.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in memory of Bruce to First Baptist Church Music Ministry.
