Franklin D. Gault, 82, of Atlantic Beach, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at his home.

Funeral service will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Shepherd of the Sea Church, officiated by Rev. Scott Berry.

Frank was born on April 4, 1935 in Wood County, West Virginia to A.C. and Phyllis Gault. He attended high school at Wirt County High in West Virginia and continued his education at Potomac State College and later received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Marshall University, both of West Virginia. Frank completed his post graduate studies in education at Ohio State University. Frank married his loving wife, Myrtle Brewer Gault, in 1956. Following 35 years of employment in the public school system, he retired as the Superintendent of Claymont City Schools in Ohio. His devotion to the church and education will be greatly missed.  Frank was a member of the following organizations; Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, Associate Member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Rotary International, Phi Delta Kappa at Ohio State University, American Association of School Administrators, Buckeye Associate of School Administrators, Marshall University Alumni, Potomac Sate College Alumni, Past President of Central Ohio School Masters Club, Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity of Marshall University, Lutheran Men in Mission, Former Vice President of Coastal Branch of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle B. Gault of Pine Knoll Shores; sons, Eric F. Gault of Columbus, OH, Kevin T. Gault and wife Ronda of Pine Knoll Shores, Todd M. Gault and wife Erika of Akron, OH; brothers, Leo Gault of Fort Pierce, FL, Dwight Gault of Port Orange, FL, Mike Gault of Parkersburg, WV; grandchildren, Andrew Gault of Columbus, OH, Austin Gault of Kent, OH, Katie Gault of Huntington, WV, Tyler Whitehead of Pine Knoll Shores, Lyndsay Whitehead of Akron, OH, Harley Gasser of Pine Knoll Shores; great-grandchildren, Ava Rochelle Whitehead, Scarlett Whitehead, Haisley Whitehead; survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, A.C. and Phyllis Gault.
