Frank Sterling Gillikin, Sr.
July 24, 1935 — May 8, 2014
Frank S. Gillikin, Sr., 78, of Beaufort, son of now deceased Luther and Lessie Gillikin of Beaufort, NC went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2014.
A graveside service will be held in Beaufort, NC on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 10:00 am under the beautiful Live Oak trees at Ocean View Cemetery with Rev. Caleb Lee officiating.
Frank graduated with the 1953 Beaufort Sea Dogs and later received degrees from East Carolina Teacher College now East Carolina University. Frank attended the historical St. Paul's Church where as a young man taught Sunday School. In 1967, as a member of the St. Francis Episcopal Church he served on the board as the senior warden. Frank retired in 1992 after 35 years as an educator in North Carolina and Virginia School systems. He holds a life time achievement award in the Virginia PTA.
He is survived by his family which includes his loving wife of 57 years, Carol Gillikin, sons Frank S. Gillikin, Jr. and Benjamin L. Gillikin, four grandchildren Alex, Luther, Chandler, and Emily, and siblings, Edna Brock and Raymond Gillikin, of Beaufort, NC.
A gathering will be held as St. Francis Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
