Francis "Frank" Thomas

Francis "Frank" Thomas of Harkers Island,N.C, passed away on July 9th at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C.
A memorial service will be held at the Harkers Island United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 17th at 11:00 am.
Frank was born in 1930 to Richard and Julia Flaherty Thomas in Irvington, N.J.
He served proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, assigned to M.S.T.S. carrying military personnel all over the world. He retired from Local 675 IBEW-Elizabeth, N.J. after 44 years in the electrical trade. Frank belonged to Azure Masada Masonic Lodge # 22, was a 32nd degree Mason in the Valley of Trenton and Crescent Shrine Temple of Trenton, N.J. whose class was sponsored by Astronaut Buzz Aldrin.
He spent most of his life in N.J. before retiring in 1992 with his wife, Pat, to Harkers Island, N.C., where he was a member and greeter of the Harkers Island United Methodist Church.
Frank was an avid fisherman, hunter and competition shooter. He was a very outgoing man who was known for his story telling.
He is survived by Pat, his wife of 57 years; daughters, Cheryl Granat and husband Tom of Long Valley, N.J., Kim Terranova and husband Tom of Hertford, N.C., Cynthia Vitale of Summit, N.J. and Dawn Michaud and husband Jerry of Monroe, N.J.; 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a sister, Sarah Hagey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Fork Rifle Club, PO Box 274, Cresson, P.A. 16630.
