Frances "Arlene" Garner

Frances “Arlene” Garner, 92, of Newport, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Newport Baptist Church in Newport with the visitation at 10:00 am; and the funeral at 11:00 am with Rev. Gary Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Arlene is survived by three children, sons Sherrill Garner and wife Ruth, James Garner and wife Gladys, and daughter, Lavonne Fleming and husband Melvin, all of Newport. She is survived by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Arlene is survived by one brother, Charles E. Garner and wife Sylvia of Newport, and one sister-in-law, Mildred of Hope Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland; her parents, Richard Percy and Julia Alvania Garner; brothers, Ralph Garner and wife Marian, Wilber Garner, Richard Garner; twin infants, sisters, Betty Mae Garner, Ester Raie Garner, and Sally Bell.
