Frances Louise (Harrison) Credle

Frances Lousie Harrison Credle, 94, of Morehead City, died peacefully Thursday December 6, 2012, surrounded by her family.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 Tuesday at Gethsemane Memorial Park with Rev. John Pollock officiating.

Frances was born November 19, 1918 in Greenville, SC. Her family relocated to Henderson, NC where she grew up. In the late 1930's Frances, her brother George Harrison and sister, Mary Harrison sang on WPTF radio in Raleigh. She never lost her great love of music.

Frances and husband Travis Credle, moved their family to Carteret County in 1958 when Travis bought Hill's Motel Marina on Harkers Island. Frances ran the restaurant with the assistance of some of the best cooks on the Island creating a delicious seafood menu. In 1968, the Credles sold the business, and moved to Morehead City where Frances enjoyed working at Dee Gee's Gift Shop for nearly 35 years.She also volunteered for many years at the Hampton Maritime Museum in Beaufort. A loyal member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church since 1958, she was one of its first female vestry members and served her church in many other capacities, including the Altar Guild and Choir.


She is survived by her children Mary Frances Wright and husband John of Morehead City, Travis Credle and wife Sara of Morehead City, Lucy Reithlingshoefer and husband Don of Annapolis, MD, Celestia O'Donnell of Nashville, TN: beloved grandchildren Richard Wright of Manteo, Annie Reithlingshoefer of Raleigh, and Adam O'Donnell of Raleigh, NC: three nephews John Harrison of Amissville, VA,  David Harrison of Henderson, NC, and George Harrison, Jr of Gainesville, GA: and cousin Michael Comer of Greenville, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband Travis Credle.

A reception will follow the service at Chefs 105, 105 Fifth Street, Morehead City.
