F. Owen Berkebile

F. Owen Berkebile, 84, of Morehead City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at his home.

His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 10th, at Munden Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Owen, or “Chub”, as he was known to family and friends, was born on July 21, 1937, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Frank and Ethel Mae Berkebile. He enjoyed his career as a Civil Engineer with TC Energy where he retired after 44 years of dedicated employment in the Natural Gas Industry. Formerly a resident of Virginia, he was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, in Vienna, VA.

Owen always enjoyed being on the green playing a long round of golf. Fishing was another sport he found challenging as well as relaxing. His favorite pastime was travelling with his beloved wife to new places and learning new cultures. Europe was among his favorite destinations.

He is survived by his son, Lee Berkebile, and partner Sabra Hall of Morehead City; brother, Fred Berkebile of Faquier County, VA; and 4 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, in September of 2020, Anna Marie Berkebile.
