Floyd Willis

Floyd T. Willis, Sr., 84, of Beaufort, died Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Carteret General Hospital.

Mr. Willis was a veteran and served in the US Navy during WWII, received the Medal of Honor and was a decorated hero in 1998.
He was an avid fisherman and retired from Civil Service at Cherry Point.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 pm Thursday at Oceanview Cemetery with Rev. Manley Rose officiating.

He is survived by daughters, Evelyn Jarvis of Beaufort, Barbara Campbell and Mary Ford, both of Otway and Debra Springle of Beaufort; sons, Floyd T. Willis, Jr. of FL, Kim Willis of Beaufort, Tim Willis of Merrimon and Jeffrey Willis of Newport; sister-in-law, Dale Wetherington of Swansboro, 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna and three daughters, Judy, Donna and Cathy.

The family will receive friends 1:30 - 2:30 pm Thursday, prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home.
