Floyd Stewart Brown

Floyd Stewart Brown, 83, of Stacy, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at PruittHealth-Crystal Coast in Beaufort.

A funeral service to honor Floyd’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5 at the Stacy Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ernest Laxton. Interment will follow at the Stacy Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Floyd was born January 2, 1941, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to the late Charles and Neta Brown.  He worked for the State of North Carolina and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He was an active member of his church, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School on occasion. He had a great sense of humor always making us all laugh.  His passion was a love of ancient history, even naming all his cats after Egyptian Pharaohs.  He loved archeology and devoted many hours to the study of his family genealogy.  He had a gift of recalling dates of historical events as well as birth and death dates.  His gentle smile and wit are already greatly missed by his friends and family.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his son, Gregory Brown (Cindy), and grandchildren Taylor Brown and Sabra Brown of Sea Level, North Carolina; his twin sister, Anita Brown of Arlington, Virginia; sisters, Wanda Smith (Phillip) of Davis, North Carolina, and Sylvia Styron (Phillip) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and nieces, Dana Nelson, Anna and Kara Smith of Davis, North Carolina, Shelley Brown of Beaufort, North Carolina, and Jacqueline Hildebrandt of Needville, Texas.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or a memorial donation can be made to the Stacy Free Will Baptist Church.
