Evelyn Neel Murphy

Evelyn Neel Murphy, 89, of Beaufort, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her home.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Beaufort, officiated by Reverend Ed Renfrow and Reverend John Thompson. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens in Beaufort.

Evelyn’s love for the Lord was evident in how she conducted her life. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Beaufort. She was also a faithful military wife of 30 years.

We were all blessed to have her in our lives. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Jo Anne Murphy, Terry Murphy Rogers, Donna Marie Murphy; son, Gary Marlan Murphy and Laura Jones, all of Beaufort; sisters, Marilyn Rush, Velda Musgrove; brother, Lawrence Neel, all of Fairmont, West Virginia; grandchildren, Barry Hunt, Ashley Rogers, John Waylon Hunt and wife, Candace, Christan O’Neil and husband, Mike, Amanda Murphy, Jay Jones, Justin Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Jamie Murphy, Jayna Murphy; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Victor and Myrtle Neel; husband, Marlan H. Murphy (CWO4); son, Gregory Neel Murphy; sister, Okareda Saunders; brother, Edward Neel; and grandson, Jamie Michael Taylor.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Beaufort.
