November 11, 1943 — October 19, 2024

Evelyn Mae Lane, 80, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service to honor Evelyn’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 23rd at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. David Walker. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery in Bogue. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Evelyn was born on November 11, 1943, in New Bern, NC, to the late Milford and Lucille Mann. She had a love for country music and square dancing, and could often be found tapping her feet to the rhythm and enjoying every moment on the dance floor. Evelyn enjoyed singing along to her favorite country songs, filling her home with music and joy.

She took great pride in her appearance and cherished her time at the salon, always leaving with a bright smile and perfectly styled hair. Evelyn’s love for cooking brought both family and friends together. She loved creating memories around the table. A faithful and devoted member of Maysville First Baptist Church, she loved her church family and enjoyed singing hymns. Evelyn cherished her family and found happiness just being in their company. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart, love of music, and dedication to family and faith.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, William Brown of Hubert, NC; daughters, Peggy Darleene Brown of Wallace, NC, Tammie Kay Southard of Hubert, NC, and Karen McAchren of Rocky Point, NC; grandchildren, Melissa, Bonny, DaNae, Brittney, Courtney, Taylor, Destiny; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and brother, Milford Wade Mann of Newport, NC.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Mae Brown; and loving husband, Ray Lane.
