Eva Adelaide Guthrie Willis

Eva Adelaide Guthrie Willis, 87, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service to honor  Adelaide’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 14th  at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Tim Marriner. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Adelaide was born on December 19, 1936, to the late Agnew and Clara Belle Guthrie. Born and raised in the Promise Land of Morehead City, she had a great love for the Crystal Coast. Nothing was more enjoyable than sitting on her front porch and people-watching.

Adelaide found joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending her flowers, and working in the yard. She relished moments with a strong cup of black coffee, being engrossed in a good book, and she was always captivated by classic films. With a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge, Adelaide was known for her passion for writing and her deep interest in ancient history and local politics.

Her dedication and care were seen through her selfless work as a dietician at Harborview Nursing Home, where her kindness and nurturing nature brought comfort to many.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted grandson, Jonathan W. Eldred and wife Jessica of Morehead City; great-granddaughter, Lily Danica Eldred; sister, Margaret Becton of Harlowe; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bobby" Willis Sr.; sister, Ruth McKay; brother, Ray McDonald Guthrie; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Lou Willis; and son, Robert "Robby" Willis Jr.
