Eva Mae (Adams) Gillikin

December 11, 1931 — November 10, 2012

Mom, You once held our hand,
You will forever hold our heart.

Eva Adams Gillikin, 80, went to be with Jesus November 10, 2012 after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer.

A funeral will be held 11:00 Monday at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Syd Stewart and Rev. Ben Simms officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

The world’s most loving and devoted Mom she raised two sons, two daughters and one grandson with unconditional love.  Mom was one of thirteen siblings, a lifetime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and retired from Carteret General Hospital after years of devoted service as a Certified Nurses Assistant.

She is survived by two daughters, Eva Marie Lawrence and husband Richard of Adams Creek, Mary Ann Allison and husband Wayne of Atlantic Beach; one son, Claude Gillikin of Adams Creek; one grandson whom she raised as her own and was her heart and soul since the day he was born, Kevin Michael Gillikin of Adams Creek; five more grandchildren, Dustin Darrin Deaver of Atlantic Beach, Amber Marie and Lil’ Richard Lawrence, both of Adams Creek, Lee Worthington, Charles Worthington Jr. with daughter Savannah and Dawn Worthington with daughter Mackenzie, all of Newport; three sisters, Mary Meares and Rita Fay Cummings of Newport News, VA, and Rebecca Little of Adams Creek; two brothers, Johnnie Adams of Carrollton, VA and Michael Bruce Adams Sr. of Adams Creek.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Lena Mae Adams; firstborn son, Charles Sherwood Worthington Sr.; granddaughter Courtney Garner; three sisters, Emily Geisler, Gwendolyn Bowser and Clara Parkins; four brothers, Lil’ Frank Adams, Ernest Ray Adams, Billy Adams and James Adams Sr.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.

Her daughters and family wish to express their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the RAAB Clinic, Coleman Radiation and Hospice of Carteret County.  Family welcomes flowers or memorial donations may be made to Carteret Home Health and Hospice, Division of Carteret General Hospital 3500 Arendell St. Morehead City, NC 28557.
