Eugene Joseph Huller, Jr.

Eugene Joseph “Gene” Huller, Jr., 82 of Morehead City, NC, passed away on February 25, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 14, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA to Eugene J. Huller and Daisy Huller. Gene married the love of his life, Catherine Anna “Cas” Huttenberger, on October 17, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1953-1955 during the Korean War.

He moved his family to Raleigh, NC in 1968 when he accepted a promotion with Fisher Scientific Company, where he worked for 32 years.

Gene and Cas moved to their vacation home in Atlantic Beach, NC in 1990 and then retired in Morehead City. Gene loved the beach, being out in the sunshine, taking walks along the waterfront, riding his bicycle, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.

In addition to his beloved wife of 62 years, Gene is survived by his four children: daughter Donna and her husband Mark, son Gary, daughter Barbara and her husband Steve, all of Raleigh, NC and daughter Allison and her husband Mac of Baltimore, MD; eight grandchildren: Jeana Harris Schmidt and husband Corey, Jamie Huller Reiss and her husband Chase, Phillip Harris and his wife Sally, Kasey Huller, Cassidy Stephenson and her husband Martin, Dylan Fields, Carly Fields and Devany McAlister; and five great-grandchildren: CJ and Aubrey Schmidt, Mason Stephenson, Lily Reiss and Anna Harris. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas G. Huller and wife Eileen, and sisters-in-law Patricia Huller and Marie Huller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Ronald Huller and Kenneth Huller.

Private interment will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC at a later date.
