Etta "Teen" (Jones) Hewett

Etta Ruth "Teen" Hewett, 79, of Broad Creek, died Sunday March 18, 2012.
Teen was born the fourth daughter of nine children to the late Edward and Eudora Jones, March 19, 1932, in Charlotte County, Florida. Teen graduated from Morehead City High School in 1948 and worked for Civil Service on Camp Lejeune. She married the late Cyrus Lockwood Hewett, US Air Force, in 1952, and they traveled with their growing family to Georgia, California, Texas, and Scotland, retiring to Carteret County in 1970.
Teen was an active member ot the Broad Creek Church of God, and active in churches in her life and travels. She worked for her brother, Roger Jones, as an accountant for RW Jones Seafood Company, was active in the North Carolina Home Extension Program, an artist, cook, avid reader, housewife, and pillar of the family.
Teen is survived by three siblings: Gwen Dodson of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Violet Tyndall of Dallas, Texas; and Donald E. Jones of St. Louis, Missouri: four children: Barry Hewett of Broad Creek; Denise and Ralph Sampson, of Pescadero, California; Cyrus and Kathy Hewett of Broad Creek; and Dodie and Keith Blakely of Accra, Ghana: six grandchildren Blake Easley of Broad Creek; Cooper and Lena Blakely of Ghana; and Sarah, Jess, and Lisa Sampson of Pescadero, California: two great grandchildren Jana and Will Sampson of Pescadero, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to The Lupus Foundation of North Carolina PO Box 10171, Raleigh, NC 27605 and the Broad Creek Church of God 394 Broad Creek Loop Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
Visitation with the family will be held at 6:00-8:00 pm Friday March 23, at Munden Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday March 24 at Broad Creek Church of God.
