Essie Borders Slaughter

Essie Borders Slaughter, 86, of Cape Carteret, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 13, 2018.

Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Reverend Wayne Borders. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Essie was born in Rineyville, Kentucky on June 7, 1931, to Claude and Iva (Snelling) Borders. Essie was a loving and devoted mother, mammaw, great-mammaw, sister, and aunt.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Olson and husband, John, of Swansboro, Ellen Sheehan and husband, Jim, of Swansboro; granddaughters, Kathleen Grulke and husband, Matt, of Swansboro and Morgan Sheehan of Swansboro; great-grandson, Matthew Grulke of Swansboro; sister, Maydell Davis of Louisville, KY; many special nieces and nephews; and her caregivers, Mary and Irene.

She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Edna Brown, Henry Borders and Alvin Borders.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
