Essie Carbee

Essie Stell Carbee, 88, of Pine Knoll Shores, died Sunday, September 5, 2010, at Carolina House in Morehead City.

Services will be held 11:00am Thursday at the Morehead City Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Interment will follow 2:00 pm on Friday at Oakwood City Cemetery in Raleigh.

The youngest of ten children, Mrs. Carbee was a stay at home mom who raised her three children before going back to work. She was a retired federal employee who also worked for Atlantic Research Corporation in Alexandria, VA and in the president?s office at Brigham Young University Hawaii and Utah campuses. She was an avid and active tennis enthusiast from her teenage years to well into her 80?s. She was a North Carolina Senior Games participant for many years, a member of the Bogue Banks Country Club, and an active member of her Church.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Todd Carbee of Pine Knoll Shore; daughters Kathy Merrill of Annandale, VA, and Susan Stell Carbee of Suffolk, VA; son John Todd Carbee III of Virginia Beach, VA; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Disease Research Center, Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC 27705.
