Emma Piner Wade, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away on April 4, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Lee and Dorris “Dot” Piner in Beaufort, NC August 17, 1943. Emma’s life was filled with love and dedication to her family and church.
A funeral service to honor Emma’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 8th at Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery on Harkers Island. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, April 7th at Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Emma graduated from Smyrna, NC in May 1961. That same year, she married the love of her life, Paul Wade. Together they built a life full of love, devotion, and joy. Emma was an active member of the Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed decorating, crafting, shopping, and days at the Cape, but most of all she loved being with her family.
Emma worked at Sears & Roebuck for 16 years, until the birth of her youngest son, the next 25 years she spent working at Wachovia Bank until retiring in 2005. It was then that she took on her most fulfilling job, being a full-time Nana.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and her sister Sue. Emma’s spirit is carried forward by her two sons, Todd Wade (Pamela Hilbert) and Courtney Wade (Montez Wade); granddaughters, Leigh Ann Wade-Hughes (Eric Hughes), Brooke-Lynn Wade; great-granddaughter, McCarleigh Stoops; brother, Tony Piner (Beth Piner); sister, Libby Yeomans (Tommy Yeomans); along with many nieces and nephews.
Emma’s life was a testament of a life well lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind.
