Emily "Bitsy" (McCrary) Howard
August 30, 1918 — January 16, 2012
Emily "Bitsy" McCrary Howard, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 16th, 2012.
Her service will be at the First Presbyterian Church , Thursday January 19th, at 11:00 am. Visitation will follow in the Church Fellowship Hall. Burial at Gethsemane Gardens.
Born on August 30, 1918 to the late Emmett and Marie McCrary from Wilmington, NC. She graduated from New Hanover High School and James Walker Nursing School both in Wilmington, NC. After graduating nursing school she met and married Robert "Bob" Bruce Howard, Sr. and soon they moved to Morehead City where they made their home and raised their children Kathy and Bobby. She has been very active in First Presbyterian Church in many different ways.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Katherine Schantz and husband Ira of Atlantic Beach, NY, a daughter in-law Jenne Howard, a grandson and "the apple of her eye" Robert Bruce Howard III both of Morehead City: sister Louise McCrary Howard of New Bern: numerous nieces and nephews from the Howard and McCrary families. Her faithful caregivers Yardenia Jackson, and Michelle Collins.
In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband Bob, her son Robert "Bobby" Bruce Howard Jr., her oldest sister Mary Frances McCrary, her brothers Bruce, Bob and John McCrary.
Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts can be made to the First Presbyterian Building Fund (for a covered handicapped entrance) 1604 Arendell St. Morehead City, NC.
The family will receive family and friends at the home 5109 Holly Lane, Morehead City.
