Elsie Macon Sapp

Elsie Dail Macon Sapp, 92, of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at her home.

Elsie was born June 13th, 1931 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Hal Thomas Macon and Elsie Warren Macon. 

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Baxter Boone Sapp Jr., who she was married to for 65 years; her mother, Elsie Macon; her father, Hal Thomas Macon; and her sister, Mary Lou Macon Bell and Mary Lou’s husband Charlie Emmett Bell.

She is survived by her loving children, Baxter Sapp, Macon Sapp, Marinda Sapp (Neal Gagnon); her grandchildren whom she adored, Ali Sapp and Mary Sapp; and her niece and nephews Alison Bell Hawes (James Hawes) and Charles Bell.

As a child, Elsie’s family would pack up the car and head down to Atlantic Beach every summer where she made life long friendships. She loved reminiscing about being able to sit on the porch of her family’s cottage and watch her dates come over the old draw bridge as there were only 30 houses on the beach back then. Atlantic Beach was her happy place for her entire life and so it is fitting that this is where her life came to a beautiful and peaceful close.

Elsie loved to travel, she appreciated beautiful things, she loved a party, and she valued her relationships and her relationship with her favorite son-in-law.
