Elsie Lo Rhea Merritt Riley, 98, of Havelock, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with Father Greg Spencer of Annunciation Catholic Church of Havelock officiating. The family would like to request everyone to dress casually for Mrs. Elsie’s service.
Elsie retired from N.C. Baptist Hospital after over 30 years of employment, and for the past 20 years she was very proud to call Havelock her home. After retirement, she loved to take “spur of the moment” getaways to shop or to visit her family, talking politics, and keeping an eye on the stock market. She was the most loving and kind person who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Honeycutt and husband Brad of Havelock, Margaret “Maggie” Stancil and her significant other, Bill Ragsdale of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and Patricia “Pat” Romani and husband Paul of Kissimmee, FL; son, Thomas “Tom” Riley and wife Sherry of Kernersville; grandchildren, Brad Honeycutt, Jr. and wife Holly, Brian Honeycutt and wife Stephanie, Angela Yeagher and husband Johnny, Garrett Ragsdale and significant other Moira, Michele Williamson and husband Chris, Chris Romani and wife Mary Beth, Megan Riley, and Jon Riley; also many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Anthony Riley; parents, Thomas and Lillie Elsie Morris Merritt; also many brothers and sisters.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Craven County Hospice, PO Drawer 12610, New Bern, NC 28561.
