Elsie Anna Clark Hodge, 96, of Newport, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
There will be a graveside service on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro, officiated by Reverend Harold Shives.
Elsie was a beautiful woman who always had time for everyone. She was a member at Newport Baptist Church. Elsie was a past teacher at Randolph Community College in Asheboro and her love for teaching extended as she taught pine needle basket weaving for over 40 years. She was vital in helping run the family business, Hodge Motor Company, with her husband and son. She volunteered at schools for many years and served on the Boards of both Kids Fest and Habitat for Humanity. She was an active volunteer for Seafood Festival for a number years. Her help in the community and to those around her will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Hodge Wippich of Newport; sister, Ruth C. Oliphant of High Point; grandchildren, Steven Hodge, Amy Hodge Dobbins, Jenny Hodge Hoskins, Roger C. Wippich, Rebecca Wippich Benners; great-grandchildren, Wesley Dobbins, Katie Hodge, Kayla Dobbins, Emily Hoskins, Elizabeth Hoskins, Henry Hodge and Samuel Hoskins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Uless A. Hodge; son, Jimmy Lee Hodge of Sophia; parents, Albert and Elsie Clark; sister, Eleanor Cox Linder; great-grandchildren, Julie Poole and Charlie Hodge.
Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
