Ellen Lee (Burke) Thompson

Ellen Burke Thompson, 71, of Morehead City, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center Greenville, NC.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday at First Baptist Church of Morehead with Dr. Nate Leonard officiating. Interment will be held 2:30 Friday, November 29, 2013 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington, NC.
Ellen served her church faithfully, and was a devoted member of the Footprints Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. She served numerous committees which include the finance and benevolence committees. She was the owner and operator of Sound 'n Sea Realty for 35 years, she held every office of the Local Board of Realtors, and was elected Realtor of the Year.
She is survived by her husband Demus Thompson of Morehead City; step son Michael Lee Heisey and wife Christine of Tavares, FL; three step grandchildren Jamie Heisey of Carrollton, GA, Michael Lee Heisey, Jr., of Carrollton, GA, and Julia Heisey of Tavares, FL; one great granddaughter Bayleigh Heisey of Carrollton, GA; one sister Mary Lynn Burke Webb of Graham, NC; one brother Joe Dennis Burke of Burlington, NC; nieces Angelia Gallimore, Christy Mercer, Bailey Dimke, Monica Webb, Jo Anne Spoon, and Terri Albright; and nephews Bobby Austin, Steve Austin, and G.T. Webb.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Hazel Burke, and sister Anne Austin.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home, and a second visitation will be held 12:00-2:00 pm Friday, November 29, 2013 at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home 207 E. Elm St. Graham, NC 27253.
Rememberance donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Eastern NC Chapter 3101 Industrial Dr. Suite 210 Raleigh, NC 27609.
