Elizabeth Ann Stamey Andrews

Elizabeth Ann Stamey Andrews, 78, of Newport, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with multiple health issues on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Carteret Health Care, surrounded by her family.

There will be a quiet private family service at Cape Look Out to spread her ashes at a later time.

Ann spent her childhood in Marshallberg, NC before returning to the Greensboro, NC area and later retiring in Newport NC.  She retired from Greensboro Radiology where she spent her professional career before returning to her roots in Carteret County.

Ann had a true love of the beach, dancing and good shag music. She was a lifetime member of the Association of Beach and Shag Club DJ’s.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, James L. Andrews, of Newport; daughters, Beth Durham and husband, Todd, of Greensboro, Lisa Burgess of Greensboro, Janet Bohmuller and husband, Karl, of Newport; brother, Wayne Thomas Stamey of Little River; 6 grandchildren, Shane Hughes, Todd Durham, Jr., Ashlee Durham, Kal Bohmuller, Christian Burgess and Gage Bohmuller; and 1 great-grandchild, Wyatt Hughes.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Stamey; mother, Wincie Edwards Stamey; and brother, James Stamey.

We will miss the strongest woman we have ever known. She has impacted many lives and is loved.
